Make sure you’re tithing. You know, make sure you’re getting first things first because that’s the only thing in the Bible that God says, ‘Test me in this, and see will I not pour out a blessing that cannot be contained?’ So if that’s not a priority? Do you know, ma’am, that I started doing that about a year ago and it has already increased what I’m able to do, and I’m not hurting. I pay my bills on time every time and I have enough left over at the end of the month. And I do honestly believe it’s because I started tithing. You know God is a great multiplier. We see that all through scripture. We don’t go to the table because of what he’s serving to eat. We go to be and have fellowship with the master, not what he is serving. So it’s not about what he can do or will do. You know, it is an act of worship and I believe with all my heart, there’s no greater act of worship than giving. I mean, I believe that because I guess because I’m a money guy and I’ve seen for so many years how hard people squeeze their money and cling to it. And I believe that’s why there are so many verses about money in scripture because God knew that was obviously one thing that Satan is going to use to tempt people from clinging to it tight and not giving it back to the Lord. So when you do it freely and openly and joyfully, it is an incredible act of worship. So I hope that we’re all participating in that. It surely is a great act of worship, folks. It doesn’t just start with our own hearts, though. I mean, it certainly does for us, personally, but, as Christians, we need this to be fed to us from the pulpit. The Church needs to teach this doctrine of tithing—the Church needs to teach it. And sadly, many churches have failed to do this. We mentioned earlier in the program some of those reasons why, but in this next clip Dan talks about the need for the Church to teach about tithing and why that is so important. We don’t teach—I didn’t grow up in the church so I can’t speak to this fully, but I have a lot of friends my age that I talk to or people that I run into and I ask them the question from time to time, and they would say yeah, I mean, we had Sunday school classes on giving and giving God our first fruits. And the church, unfortunately, does not teach the blessings of giving like they did many years ago. And we’ve lost a couple of generations here that have grown up and didn’t grow up with that thinking. My daughters tithed on the first babysitting dollars they ever earned. I believe, with all my heart now, that they are faithful givers to their church and other ministries above that they support. It is an incredible act of worship.
Tithing As An Act Of Worship
