PHILADELPHIA—Nationally syndicated host and biblical investing authority Dan Celia reviewed the market numbers for October, as well as the outlook for Christmas spending season.
Celia stated, “As we look at a start of a new week, everybody’s watching very carefully as we close out the third quarter earnings season. The National Federation of Independent Business small business index is coming out on Tuesday with a very important number. It’s expected to be up slightly, but we’re still maintaining a pessimistic outlook for the month of October.
“After some detailed analysis, they are predicting one of the best Christmas shopping seasons ever. The last time they did that was in about 2014, and it was one of the worst that we’ve ever had. All the numbers were negative, so we’ll see how that prediction turns out.”
Celia continued, “The producer price index is coming out, which is an important inflation number that we’ll watch very closely. That’s an October number that’s expected to be up over a half a percent. That is not good for inflation. Initial jobless claims are coming out as well on Wednesday, which is another number we’re going to watch closely. That number is expected to be down—let’s hope that is the case. Consumer price index is also coming out on Wednesday, and that’s expected to be up just over half a percent. That also is an inflation number.
“Former President Trump’s energy secretary claims Biden’s policies will lead to disaster, which doesn’t take a whole lot to figure out. It’s already starting to lead to some disasters—we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks. But the current energy policy is not going to be good for America. I know everybody is thinking clean energy, but we’re not going to get there without it happening on the back of carbon fuel.”
Celia discusses these and other global and economic headlines on his daily, three-hour “Financial Issues” program, heard on more than 660 radio stations and several television networks nationwide, including FISM.TV, viewed on several post-cable television platforms and online.
